AND VOICES SANG IN JOY!
On Sunday 31st May, we celebrated the re-opening of Coneysthorpe Chapel in a joyful service of thanksgiving. Revd Jane Brown led us in prayer and worship. Words of thanks were offered to everyone who had helped us to raise the funds and complete the essential work so that the Chapel was safe to open once again. Special thanks were offered to Rosie Wade and Judy Sladden, who had coordinated all the necessary elements of the project.
We were pleased to be joined by Nicholas Howard, of Castle Howard estate who own Coneysthorpe village, as well as many local villagers and people from across our churches and chapels, along with other supporters and friends.
We were treated to the talents of two organists Dr Philip Moore and Jonathan Piercy, and the wonderful voices of our choir. The beauty of the sound overwhelmed us, reminding us once again of the superior acoustics within this Chapel. Certainly, an ideal venue for music!
Sadly, there is still much more work to be done on the building and many questions about the future of this special Chapel. Revd Jane encouraged us to be positive, but realistic about its future, inviting us all to consider how we might work together to keep the Chapel as a place of prayer and worship and as an asset to the local community. If you have ideas, do let us know.
