Weddings in Church

Churches are special places and, as a wedding venue, they present a unique offer that cannot be experienced anywhere else.

Churches provide not only a beautiful venue, but a wedding in church brings an added dimension to a marriage. In church, you take amazing and sacred vows before God, and not only publicly commit to each other, but also invite God to bless and strengthen your marriage.

Marrying in an historic church, at the heart of the local community, makes you part of the history of that place.

The vows you will take in church (and only in Church) have stood the test of time and provide the foundation for our understanding of marriage:

‘to have and to hold from this day forward;
for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health, to love and
to cherish, till death us do part;
according to God’s holy law.’

If you get married at one of our churches, we work with you to make the day special, just as you want it to be.

We can offer:

♦ a personalised Wedding, with a minister who you have had the chance to get to know

♦ recorded or live music

♦ a choice of readings

♦ advice about flowers in Church

♦ church bells to celebrate, as you leave (in some of our churches)

You do not need to have been baptised / christened to marry in Church.

You can marry in our churches if one, or both, of you lives within the parish. But you will also be able to marry here, even if you do not live in the parish, if either of you can show an allowable connection with the parish.  There are other ways to be allowed to marry in Church, so do talk to us even if the above do not apply.

Having been married before does not necessarily mean you cannot marry in Church.  In most cases, we will take Weddings where one, or both, of the couple has been married before. So, please do not be put off enquiring if you have been married before.

If you want to know more, get in touch with Revd Jane Brown on 07535 067056.

She will be happy to speak to you, at any stage. Once you are ready to book, we will meet with you to discuss your plans and get to know you a little, so your wedding can be a truly special day.
